Eligibility
(A) Master of Computer Applications (MCA)

(a) (i) B.Sc. (Honours) Computer Science (10+2+3 scheme) from University of Delhi or any other University whose examination is recognized as equivalent to University of Delhi with 60% marks in aggregate.

(a) (ii) Any bachelor degree from the University of Delhi with atleast one paper in Mathematical Sciences under annual mode/ atleast two papers in Mathematical Sciences in semester mode or an equivalent degree. Minimum percentage required 60% marks in aggregate (Relaxation of 5% marks for the candidates belonging to SC/ST categories).

(B) M.Sc. (Computer Science)

(a) (i) B.Sc. (Honours) Computer Science (10+2+3 scheme) from University of Delhi or any other University whose examination is recognized as equivalent to University of Delhi with 60% marks in aggregate

(ii) B.Sc. Applied Physical Sciences with Mathematics and Computer Science / B.Sc.(General) Mathematical Sciences, (10+2+3 scheme) with Mathematics and Computer Science from University of Delhi or any other University whose examination is recognized as equivalent to University of Delhi. Minimum Percentage required: 60% marks in the aggregate along with 60% marks in Computer Science and Mathematics separately.

(iii) Any Bachelor’s Degree of University of Delhi or an equivalent examinations, with at least six papers in Computer Science and two papers in Mathematics under Semester system / at least four papers in Computer Science and one paper in Mathematics under Annual Examination System. Minimum Percentage required 60% marks in the aggregate, and 60% marks in Computer Science and Mathematics separately. (Relaxation of 5% marks for the candidates belonging to SC / ST categories for all of the three above) (b)

The candidates who are appearing in the final year examinations of the degree on the basis of which admission is sought [as mentioned above in B (a)] are also eligible to apply.

Age Limit: (i) No person shall be eligible for admission to first year of the MCA / M.Sc. (Computer Science) course in the University unless he / she is twenty years of age before the first day of October of the year in which he/she seeks admission.

Eligibility Criteria
The MCA course pre-requisites demand that the student entering MCA must be
a graduate in any discipline with Mathematics as one of the subjects at 10+2
level or at graduation, with 45% (40% in case of backward class candidates from
Maharastra state only) aggregate in graduation. Some institutes even restrict it

Eligibility:

(a) Any Bachelor’s Degree under 10+2+3 scheme of examination followed at the University of Delhi or an equivalent degree from any other recognized University with 60% marks (55% in case of SC/ST candidates) in aggregate and atleast one paper in Mathematics for annual system candidates/atleast two papers of Mathematics for semester system candidates.

(b) The candidates who are appearing in the final year examination of the degree on the basis of which admission is sought [as mentioned] are also eligible to apply.

2. The candidates qualifying JAM are required to report in person (to the Department) for counselling on 13th July 2009. At the time of counselling they will be required to fill up an application form and submit a bank draft of Rs.500/- (Rs.250/- in case of SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of “The Registrar, University of Delhi”. Time of counselling will be announced at the Department website.

JNU (Jawahar Lal Nehru University) MCA Entrance Test
The questions in the entrance examination for admission to the MCA programme may cover the following areas of study :

Modern Algebra and Matrix Theory

The question paper will consist of two parts :

University of Delhi MCA Entrance Test
Admission Test Syllabi will consist of the following two tests (objective type).
Test I Quantitative and Mathematical Ability Test 75 min.
Test II Deductive and Logical Ability Test                 60 min.
Each test carries 200 marks. Each question carries 4 marks.

The outlines of the syllabus for the admission tests are as follows :

Test 1 : Quantitative and Mathematical Ability Test :
Algebra — Sets, groups, fields, vector spaces, complex numbers, Demoivre’s theorem and its simple applications, matrices, determinants, relation between roots and co-efficients of an equation, Scalar and Vector products, triple products.
Calculus — Real number system, continuity and limits, differentiation, integration, definite integral, evaluation of lengths and area of curves, curvature, partial differentiation, differential equations of first order and their solutions, linear differential equations with constant coefficients, homogeneous linear differential equations.
Geometry — Two-dimensions : straight lines, circles, parabola, hyperbola and ellipse, classification of curves of second type.

Three-dimensions — spheres, quadratic cones and cylinders.
Real Analysis — Sequences, sequences of real numbers, convergent sequences, Cauchy sequences, monotonic sequences, bounds, infinite series and their different tests of convergence, absolute convergence, uniform convergence. Properties of continuous functions, Rolle’s theorem, mean value theorem, Taylor’s and Maclaurin’s series, maxima and minima, indeterminate forms.
Statistics and Linear Programming — Frequency distributions and measures of dispersion, skewness and kurtosis, permutations and combinations, probability, random variables and distribution functions, mathematical expectation and generating functions, binomial, Poisson, normal distribution curve fitting and principle of least squares, correlation and regression, sampling and large sample test, test of significance based in t, c2 and F distributions.
